DDS-3 Tapes
Whereas DDS2 was released 4 years after the launch of DDS1, it took 3 years for DDS3 to be launched after second generation in 1996. DDS 3 had a tape length of 125 meters and a capacity of 12 GB native, triple the capacity of second generation. Also, it has an improved transfer rate of 1.1 MB/s as compared to 0.6 MB/s of the previous generations. PRML (Partial Response Maximum Likelihood) was also introduced in DDS-3 which eliminates electronic noise so that there is cleaner data recording. We offer tapes by Sony, HP and Maxell with a discount if you, the customer, purchase more than 20 units of media cartridges. There are the higher capacity versions and products available for this format: DAT-40, DAT-72 or DDS5, DAT160 or DDS-6 and DAT-320.
