The SDX1-25C is an AIT-1 tape by Sony that has a capacity of 25 GB for uncompressed data and 65 GB for compressed data (with a 2.6:1 compression ratio). The SDX-25C uses Sony’s AME (Advanced Metal Evaporated) technology for the tape formulation which allows you to maximize your recording performance as the tape contains 100% pure cobalt. Another key feature of this Sony AIT-1 tape is the DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating on the tape surface which as its name suggest has similar properties to diamonds and is thus able to protect the tape better and provide for better reliability. The MIC (Memory in Cassette) is a flash memory chip that is embedded into the cartridge and has a small memory that is capable of storing the file table and table of contents. This allows you to quickly locate the file you are searching for instead of wasting valuable time. Hence the AIT-1 SDX1-25C allows you to quickly locate your data and manages to store it reliably for long term use.
