Super Digital Linear Tape (SDLT) is a variation of the DLT line with a higher capacity and with an added optical servo system that helps to keep the data tracks on the front of the tape correctly aligned with the read/write heads. SDLT-1 tapes have a capacity of 160 GB and 320 GB capacity compressed (2:1 compression). Using Ultra 2 SCSI, SDLT-1 tapes deliver a transfer rate of 16 MB/s and are compatible with SDLT220/320, SDLT600 and DLT-S4 tape drives.
