The LTO Ultrium was originally designed to come in 4 tape lengths with different capacities ranging from 10 GB to 100 GB. Released in 2000, the LTO tapes were initiated by Seagate, HP and IBM in a bid to challenge the market dominated by Sony’s AIT and Quantum’s DLT tapes. LTO 1 drives use the same data compression technique as in AIT tapes and has a maximum speed of 20 MB/s. We offer HP StorageWorks LTO Ultrium Internal and External tape drives.
