The Sony GW-730L is a DTF-1 (Digital Tape Format) tape that has a capacity of 42 GB native on a tape of length 732 meters. The GW-730L uses HAD (High Density Alloy) as its tape formulation and combined with a protective layer, the Sony DTF-1 tape has enhanced archival characteristics. Another feature of the GW-730L is that the high-density packing and special calendaring process allows for higher output and lower error rate. The technology used in the GW-730L allows for lesser tape shrinkage thus allowing for long term stable tracking.
