DLT IV (Digital Linear Tape) or DLT 4 is a high capacity (up to 40 GB capacity) and highly reliable medium for backup data storage. DLT IV tapes are single reel metal particle tapes that compete mainly with LTO and SAIT formats. In early 2007, Quantum announced that they would no longer continue developing next generation versions of DLT tape. However, DLT 4 tapes are still in use and with a theoretical lifespan of 30 years in specific conditions they will continue to be in use until they are worn out due to their excellent performance and reliability. DLT IV tapes are compatible with DLT4000/7000/8000 and SDLT220/320. We supply DLT IV tapes by Imation, Fuji, Maxell, IBM, Verbatim, HP, Sony and Quantum.
