DLT III XT version was released in 1995 six years after the DLT III tape and has an increased capacity of 15 GB. The DLT II XT tapes are compatible with DLT2000XT/4000/7000/8000 tape drives. These drives work with the SCSI-2 interface and hence have better transfer rates than previous generations of DLT drives. With a capacity that is neither high nor low, DLT III XT tapes are ideal for backing up low to mid-range networks and/or servers.
