The HP C8011A is another DAT product from HPs long line of DDS/DAT products. The DAT160 format was launched in June 2007 and has both SCSI and USB compatibility. HP and Sony partnered to develop the DDS (Digital Data Storage) or DAT format and HP has released the latest generation tape, the C8011A to compete with other 8mm tapes like VXA, Travan, etc. The HP C8011A has an 80 GB native and 160 GB compressed capacity. The C8011A has a compressed transfer rate of greater than 12 MB/s but actual transfer rates depend on the tape drive being used in conjunction with the C8011A DAT160 tape.
