The DC-DAT160 is a DAT160 tape cartridge by TDK. The TDK DC-DAT160 was the first DAT160 tape media to get approval from the DAT manufacturers group. The DC-DAT160 has an 80 GB native and 160 GB compressed capacity. The transfer rate applicable to the DC-DAT160 is approximately 12 MB/s (compressed) and can be greater than that provided that the drive used with the tape is capable of supporting it. The TDK DC-DAT160 uses Super Finavinx tape formulation that has a high precision coating process and allows for better recording through less noise and better reading because the alignment of the metal particles is in the most part in one direction. TDK worked with HP extensively to ensure that the DC-DAT160 was compatible and also to ensure that it met all requirements to be qualified as a DAT160 tape.
