The Maxell 230010 is a DDS-6 or DAT160 tape, the DAT160 is one of the latest released tape format available in the market today. In fact the DAT160 format was launched by HP just recently in 2007. The only big difference between DAT72 and DAT160 is the change of the tape width to 8mm in DAT160 which has allowed for a decrease in length of the tape from 170m to 150m whilst allowing an increase in capacity. This is applicable to the 230010 DAT160 tape as well. The Maxell 230010 has a native capacity of 80 GB and a compressed capacity of 160 GB. The transfer rate applicable to the Maxell 230010 is 13.8 MB/s compressed (actual speed is dependent on the drive in use with the 230010 cartridge).
