The IBM 18P7534 tape media is for use with 3592 tape drives. The IBM Total Storage tape cartridges with part number 18P7534 can be of three different types: short length (JJ/JR), standard length (JA/JW) and extended length (JB/JX). All three types are available in both rewritable and WORM (Write Once Read Many) format. Short length 18P7534 tape media has a 100 GB native and 200 GB compressed whereas standard length 18P7534 media has a 500 GB native and 1 TB compressed and the extended length 18P7534 has a 700 GB native and 1.4 TB compressed capacity (all figures are for when the 18P7534 3592 tape media is used with TS1120 tape drives only). All 18P7534 tape cartridges contain cartridge memory chips which store records of tape history and media performance every time the cartridge is unloaded from a 3592 tape drive. These can be used to determine if the enterprise tape media or tape drives are degrading over time.
