This Imation LTO-2 16598 BlackWatch tape has a native capacity of 200 GB and a compressed capacity of 400 GB. Transfer rates for the Imation BlackWatch 16598 LTO-2 tape have increased to 40 MB/s native and 80 MB/s compressed. Although the LTO-2 Ultrium , like the LTO-1 Ultrium uses Metal Particle (MP), the recording method has changed to PRML (Partial Response Maximum Likelihood). The Imation LTO-2 Ultrium 16598 also has the LTO-CM (Linear Tape Open – Cartridge Memory) that allows access to system information without having to insert the cartridge into the tape drive. The Imation BlackWatch is compatible with all LTO-2 and LTO-3 tape drives and auto-libraries in both read/write mode. It is not compatible with LTO-1 tape drives and autoloaders.
