The 003-3825-01 is a cleaning tape cartridge for use with 9840 tape drives (these include StorageTek’s T9840A, T9840B and T9840C). Like all tape drives and autoloaders, the 9840 tape drives too require regular cleaning because they too are vulnerable to dust and grime especially when placed in less than ideal conditions. Hence the use of a cleaning tape such as the 003-3825-01 is highly recommended. The Sun Microsystems 003-3825-01 cleaning tape allows up to 100 cleanings before it has to be replaced by a new one. Usage of a cleaning tape such as the 003-3825-01 after it has completed its allotted number of cleanings is not recommended and may cause damage to your 9840 tape drive or autoloader.
