The Sony TAITE-20N is an AIT-E Turbo tape. The TAITE-20N Turbo tape has a native capacity of 20 GB and a 52 GB capacity of compressed data on a tape of length 98 meters. These Sony AIT-E Turbo tapes use AME (Advanced Metal Evaporated) tape for high magnetic flux density and coercivity that improves recording quality. Another feature of TAITE-20N tape cartridges is the DLC (Diamond Like Coating) that greatly improves life and reliability of these tapes. However, the Sony TAITE-20N features no chip such as MIC or R-MIC. The TAITE-20N does however have a transfer rate of 6 MB/s but does not support W.O.R.M (Write Once Read Many) functionality. Newer AIT Turbo drives have read/write compatibility with current generation AIT tape cartridges (AIT and AIT-E or Turbo).
