Q1998A, HP AIT-2 50GB/130GB Backup Tape (Retail Packaging)

The HP AIT2 Q1998A is an AIT-2 tape cartridge. It has a width of 8mm and length of 230 meters and the base material used is Aramid on the AME (Advanced Metal Evaporated) magnetic material. It can store 50 GB of uncompressed data and 100 GB of compressed data. It features MIC (Memory In Cassette) which has a memory of 64K. This means that media loads quicker, the user can access files faster and data integrity is maintained better on the Q1998A AIT-2 tape as although the data on the MIC is maintained directly with the data on the media, it is however separate from the tape itself. AIT’s specially designed recording heads afford longer life-cycles due to the controlled tape tension and reduced pressure.
